Handrails may need to be added to a glass railing for safety and code compliance reasons. We have many options available. A simple stainless steel cap rail can be added to the top edge of the glass. Wooden caps are also available in a variety of different finishes. We can also add a handrail to the side of the glass using a stainless steel handrail bracket screwed through the glass panel. Handrails need to be at least 1.5″ in diameter to be code compliant. The gap between the glass and the rail must be at least 1.5″ and the ends must return to the wall. Lucite is a popular choice for shorter runs.
The height of the handrails must be between 34″ – 38″.
