GATES, LOCKS & HINGES
In order to meet Pool Code compliance, all frameless glass gates must be both self-closing and self-latching to ensure safety and functionality. At our company, we use high-quality hinges from an Australian manufacturer called Polaris. Polaris hinges feature a unique soft-closing mechanism that helps dampen the closing motion of the gate, preventing any loud slamming. This design not only protects the gate from wear and tear but also ensures a quieter, more refined operation. Additionally, a magnetic latch is integrated into the design to keep the gate securely shut, adding an extra layer of security and convenience.
A typical pool gate is made up of a 36" wide glass panel, which is supported by an adjacent glass panel. This creates a clean, seamless look that is both modern and functional. However, if the gate is installed in an area where there is no adjacent glass panel for support, we use durable stainless steel posts to provide the necessary stability and strength to ensure the gate is firmly held in place.
For those who prefer a wider entry, double gates can be installed as well. However, it’s important to note that one side of the gate will need to be a static panel, secured with a traditional cane bolt. The second gate will close onto this static panel, providing a functional and stylish entrance. While double gates are a viable option, we typically try to avoid using them as a primary access point. The reason for this is that the cane bolts, though secure, can sometimes rattle, which may lead to a less-than-ideal experience in terms of sound and security.
Overall, we prioritize using high-quality materials and innovative design to ensure that each gate we install is both compliant with pool safety standards and built to last. Whether you choose a single or double gate, our goal is to create a safe, secure, and aesthetically pleasing barrier for your pool area.
